We had been working hard to get this coin ready before the fourth of July. However we wanted to get the photo samples in and there were some unforeseen delays.

We will take initial reservations for a day or two and place the order. There will be a 'minimum' of 50 coins of each version minted.

These are coins that we had minted for hte OAEA. There was an overrun, so we are putting the additional coins up for sale!
These coins well very well received at Geocoinfest. However, we did not have them for sale at that time and only had our display samples.

The OAEA coins was minted for the 4th National Old Antarctic Explorers Association (OAEA) Reunion that was held in Pensacola Florida 5-7 November 2008. The OAEA logo consists of two emperor penguins holding a globe with the Antarctic Continent in the center and letters OAE. OAE is what people who have been to Antarctica like to call themselves. Although many of us are old, we are not explorers by any stretch of the imagination except in our own eyes. People who are not OAEs are referred to as Fengees (FNG). A Fengee is a new guy. All OAEs were once Fengees and all Fengees become OAEs. The reverse side of the coin depicts four penguins standing at the South Pole and looking up at a duck landing on Pensacola Florida. Why a duck? The yellow duck with the red helmet is the mascot of Naval Air Station Pensacola Florida. Many members of the OAEA were members of the aviation community when they were in the Navy and many of them received training or were stationed at NAS Pensacola.
